The French gang’s consistency is getting crazy, they’re coming strong and should cause more damage during the 2025 season.
Armide Soliveres, from the Canary Islands, Spain, may have won the world title in 2024, but the new emerging force of the IBC Men’s World Tour is, in fact, France.
By the end of the season rankings, among the men’s top 16, there are six riders representing the French tricolor flag – Pierre-Louis Costes in second, Amaury Lavernhe in sixth, Maxime Castillo in eighth, Ethan Capdeville in eleventh, Yon Aimar in fourteenth, and Clement Lodeho in sixteenth.
It’s true that during the entire season the French gang may have won just one stop – PLC at the Sintra Pro Fest – but their consistency, specially in the last years, is leaving a mark on the bodyboard world tour.
Individually, we are well aware Brazil’s king Guilherme Tâmega has 24 top finishing places under his belt versus the 19 wins Pierre Costes has now to show. This makes Guilherme the holder of the record for individual wins amongst all men’s pro riders. Not a single doubt about that.
Although, there’s one small but important detail to take in consideration on the equation: the last world title win for Brazil was sixteen years ago (by Uri Valadão in 2008). Since then France have conquered the men’s world title 4 times (Moz in 2010 and 2014; PLC in 2011 and 2016).
We were not trying to say anything. We are just saying what the numbers say. The evidence… well, and getting you amped for next year’s world tour season. xxx
