That’s real local support/love.
That’s right. You guys read it well. The Royal Moroccan Surfing Federation just paid the registration fees to 40 local athletes at the Taghazout Bay World Bodyboard Championship.
The first stop of the IBC World Tour started February 20th and has the window closing on March 2nd. The first rounds have been taking place in Anza Point, but the event organizers announced this morning the action will change to the solid righthanders of Anchor Point on Saturday.
With that fantastic entry support, the Moroccan Surfing Federation gave the opportunity/experience to the top 32 of their national tour, plus 4 men juniors and 4 women juniors bodyboarders to compete in a international level/event – the 1st stop of the 2024 world tour and the first in Morocco with that category.
Having at least 40 local athletes competing in the event is great and must be – for sure – one of the International Bodyboarding Corporation local biggest attendances ever in one of their contests.
The support given to the riders is huge if you consider an average value per registration of US$ 250,00, which means a total budget of $US 10,000 allocated or dedicated just for the Moroccan talents.
That’s sweet. In a sport as Bodyboarding where little support is something very common and where the industry brands investment is up to almost zero bucks, this is certainly good news that should be extolled.
Merci beaucoup à la Fédération Royale Marocaine de Surf. 🙌
