Convict Bodyboarding QLD State Titles Presented by Inverted Bodyboarding, was organised by Gold Coast Bodyboarding Club and Supervised by Surfing Queensland.

The competition was held at Duranbah Beach on the 28th of May, with super clean conditions in the morning and light cross-shore winds towards the afternoon. Waves were at 2-3ft from SouthEast direction.

The event claimed 7 QLD State Champions and a Pro Division Champion. All Competitors showed an outstanding performance and put on a great show at the States biggest bodyboarding competition.

Japanese competitor, Hayato Enokido won the Pro Division with a total score of 15.30 points, taking home the cash prize of AUD$1,500. Chilean competitor Diego Berrios placed second with a total score of 13.96, followed by Australian Liam Lucas in third with 11.04 points, and Jye Love, also from Australia, in fourth with 9.33 points.

The Opens Division winner was the Sunshine Coast competitor, Jasper Bowtell with 13.04 points, followed by Mitch Curtin in second with 12.30 points. Grant Nutter in third position with 9.47 points and Kyle Maslen in fourth with 7.14 points. All four competitors have qualified to represent the QLD Team at Nationals.

Jai Taylor was the Juniors Division champion with 12.93 points, Cooper Stewart placed second with 10.26 points, followed by Carter Brourke in third with 10 points and Xavier Marie in fourth with 8.03 points. Jai and Cooper have qualified to the QLD Team.

The Grommets Division had the closest final of the event, with only 0.69 points separating first to second. The winner was Chase Cooper with a total of 13.73 points and Zayde Taylor with a total score of 13.04 points placed second. Both competitors made it to the QLD Team.

The Masters Division +35 winner was Matt Taylor with a total score of 12.04 points, in second was Ben Wells, with equal points as third place holder Daniel Leyshon. Both have a total score of 8.70 points. The tiebreaker was the single highest score from Wells. Jason Trims finished fourth with 6.8 points. Matt and Ben have qualified to the QLD Team.

Justin Kirkpatrick was the Grand Masters +45 champion with 13 points, Corrie Rowlands finished second with 11.47 points, followed by Darrel Nelson with 10.70 points and Giorgio Casalino placed third with 3 points. Justin and Corrie made it to the QLD Team.

The Women’s Division winner for the eighth time, was Britt-Marie Ladley with a total score of 10 points and Shannon Nutter finished in second place with a total of 5.5 points. Britt-Marie has qualified for the QLD Team.

Last but not the least, the Dropknee Division champ was Justin Kirkpatrick with a total score of 11.97 points, in second place was Levi Frangos with 9.10 points. Arron Buckshiram finished third with a total of 7.30 points and Mitch Curtin in fourth also with a score of 7.30 points. Justin and Levi have qualified to the QLD Team.
