The final day of the Itacoatiara Pro, 2nd stop of the IBC World Tour, was absolutely spectacular, a full day with perfect waves, no wind, and sunshine that made the beautiful colors of Itacoatiara Beach pop and the athletes showcase their potential.

The action began with the man-on-man quarter finals matches where Yon Aymar showed he’s in top form and is definitely one of the riders to beat in the tour.

Also, Amaury Lavernhe started the day in an unstoppable way, bodyboarding like a superman, and adding another perfect 10 to his career — pulling off a deep barrel and an inverted air that was just mind-blowing.

Yon Aimar won the first semi against Brahim Iddouch, while Moz and Pierre-Louis Costes went on to fight for a final appearance in the semi two. A promising battle between two of the biggest names in our sport’s history.

Pierre took the lead early, but with 8 minutes remaining, Amaury pulled off a huge invert, scoring an 8.25 who sent him directly to the final.

Later on, Yon and Moz, both French, were competing for the Brazilian trophy. For Yon Aymar this was his first IBC final ever in his career. For Amaury Lavernhe, a two-time world champion and icon of the sport, it was just another heat he wanted to win.

Yon dominated for a few minutes, pulling off a barrel that scored a 9.10 and a reverse air that got a 7.40, giving him a total of 16.50 points (out of 20). Amaury needed to do everything perfectly to beat Aymar.

On the next wave, Amaury scored 9 points with a deep barrel from which he came out with a sick air roll. And when he only needed an 8+ wave to win, Moz went all out on a powerful left, went directly to the lip, and pulled off a huge inverted air that made everyone on the beach stand up and cheer.

Again, a perfect 10 points, that left him in first position with a total of 19 points — the highest combined score of the entire event — and scored not just one, but two perfect 10s. Absolutely mind-blowing!

“It’s been incredible. I wasn’t planning to compete in the full tour this year, and honestly, I didn’t expect to win. I’m so emotional — this is a perfect dream. Good waves, great weather — it’s a real gift,” said Moz who won the Itacoatiara Pro for the third time (2013, 2015 and 2025).

The last days of the event have been involved in controversy regarding the judging criteria and a few heat results. Top riders who compete on the tour regularly have posted their thoughts about it. We might dig in the topic one of these days.

Next event of the world tour is the Iquique Bodyboard Pro, in Chile, from June 13th to 24th.
