The weekend saw the Antofagasta Bodyboard Festival come to an end.

The third stop of the South American leg of the IBC World Tour has come to an end this weekend. Junior men and women, and also Pro Ladies were unveiled in the La Cupula waves, the spot of the 10th edition anniversary of the Antofagasta Festival.

On the ladies side Alexandra Rinder, 2x world champ (2014, 2015) from the Canary Islands, has come on top on the lladies final heat. Rinder had to beat Brazilian Isabela Sousa, 4x world champ (2010, 2012, 2013, 2016), by 12,00 versus 7,50 points. Waves were small and tricky, but the rider from Tenerife proved to be in great form. She overpassed the local girl Valentina Diaz in the semis and Maíra Viana, from Brazil, in the quarters.

Portuguese Joana Schenker and Teresa Padrela ended the event with an equal 5th place overall. They lost in the quarter finals to Isabela Sousa and Paloma Freyggang (Chile), respectively.

On the male pro junior division, Portuguese Joel Rodrigues proved once again to be one of the most ferocious young athletes nowadays. In the final Rodrigues beat the young gun from Brazil, Guilherme Montenegro, who was appointed by many to win the event, with a total score of 13,25 points against 11,75. After being second on the World Cup Frontón King last October, the young man from Portugal in now hungry to get the world title for the first time.

On the women pro junior it was a 100% Brazilian final with Luana Hardman, Neymara Carvalho (5x world champ) daughter, being the winner by beating fellow countrywoman Isa Nunes (9,25 x 6,75 points).

The world tour advances now to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the prestigious Itacoatiara Pro, which will be running between June 6-16, with a total prize of USD30,000 for the Mens division. Stay tuned for more. xxx
