The 5th event of the 2022 IBC World Tour season and the 3rd comp of the prestigious South American leg has already a winner on the Men’s Division.

The Antofagasta Bodyboard Festival has returned in a big way with a total prize money of USD90,000 in order to celebrate the 10 years of the competition. Yesterday, taking advantage from the peak of the swell during the event window, the men’s division came to an end.

Hawaiian Tanner McDaniel was absolutely killing it during the comp day 6 and beat Chilean Manuel Cepeda in the final heat. McDaniel was able to find two waves of 8,50 points (total score of 17,00 pts) while Cepeda was short to overpass the Hawaiian with a score of 16,75 pts, although he did the best wave of the final (9,25 + 7,50).

But first Tanner had to beat Sacha Damjanic in the quarters and Pierre-Louis Costes in the semis. Manuel beat Alan Muñoz in the quarters and world champ Tristan Roberts in the semis. Regarding the victory, who put the young Hawaiian leading the world ranking, the winner said: “It’s very special to win against a local rider as Manuel who had the public, all beach, chearing and celebrating on each wave. It’s good to see him getting a good result on his home. This is a huge result for me and my career and I’ll remember it for a long time. It’s always good to get good waves in all rounds, so during the final I was just enjoying the conditions”.

Stay tuned for the final results regarding the women’s, pro junior and dropknee divisions. xxx
