On December 2nd and 3rd we saw the second edition of the Pro/Am surfing and bodyboarding Jonsen Island Néné Masters competition taking place in the Mediterranean Sea.
The bodyboarders competed once again in the emblematic spot of Néné * in Bandol (Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, France) on a weekend full of action.
2x world champ Amaury Lavernhe, winner of last year’s edition, made an appearance and was for sure the favorite rider to win, but in the end finished as runner-up.
French warrior Yon Aimar show in great form and took the win and of course the 1st prize of 400 euros (event total prize money was 800 euros). Alex Chabert ended third, and Lionel Prato filled the last place on the podium.
On the junior division, Tim Higgins won the event for the second time in a row, leaving Alexandre Miceli as runner-up.
* The Néné spot is known for being very challenging and one of the most savages in the Mediterranean: a reef slab at water level with a hollow right and a longer left favoring maneuvering. According to the locals, this is a unique show for the public thanks to the wave dynamics which is very intense and breaks very close from the rocks/beach.
