The event was a part of the Festival Municipal de Surf.
The action of the first stop of the Puerto Rico National Tour 2023-24 took place in Playa Jobos, in Isabella. An organization of the Puerto Rico Surfing Federation.
A great pack of action during the weekend with a lot of local talent attending the competition. Conditions were fun, with 3 to 5ft waves, and glassy conditions most of the time.
The Dropknee Division (photos above and below) was intense with Edgar Gomez taking the win with 11.00 points total. Tay Roman come in second with 8.07 pts, leaving Gadiel Ruiz in third with 7.00 pts, and Aníbal Roman in fourth with 4.50 pts.
On the Women’s side, Anais Mendoza dominate the final heat and conquered the first place with a score of 11.66 points. Luz Grande was second with 9.76 points, and Alana Soto Perez came in third with a total score of 4.17.
The dispute on the Open Mens (top photo) was really impressive and interesting to follow. With a best wave of 8.00 points and a back up of 5.23 (total 13.23 pts), Abner De Arce was the winner of the event. Milton Montalvo placed second with 10.90 points. Legend Ruben Quiñones went third with a score of 10.17 pts, and Ezequiel Román came in fourth with 5.67 points.
