Welcome to the Lanzarote Quemao Class.

In the crystal clear waters of the La Santa coast, in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, there is one of the most majestic and challenging waves in the world, for those who dare to try to tame it. Respect for nature and understanding its mysteries are fundamental here.

El Quemao is synonymous with challenge and adrenaline, located in the heart of the Lanzarote Biosphere Reserve, this natural jewel is a reminder of the raw and majestic beauty of our planet. El Quemao is not just a wave, it is a protected marine ecosystem, a corner of the Earth where nature and adventure merge.

Since its conception, the Lanzarote Quemao Class has been more than just a surfing event, it is not just a competition; is a celebration of the free spirit of surfing and the majesty of nature.

The waiting period for the 8th edition started on October 31, 2023 and goes until March 30, 2024.

The event is an invitational that only gets underway when the best wave conditions occur and is fulfilled of a format of 32 surfers and 32 bodyboarders selected by the organization.

The full list of invited riders has not yet been released, but according to the organization PLC (France), Amaury Lavernhe and Robin Legros (Reunion Island), Mike Stewart (Hawaii), Abner de Arce (Puerto Rico). and local boys William Lujan and Lionel Medina (Gran Canaria), Aitor Ojeda and Ruyman Rey (Fuerteventura), and Paul Lecouey (Lanzarote) will be attending the event.

Last year Pierre-Louis Costes won the comp for the first time, leaving Amaury Lavernhe, a 3x winner at El Quemao, in second, Ruyman Rey in third, and Aitor Ojeda in fourth.
