Marathon day this Monday at Grande Plage in Biarritz where 8 titles were awarded in difficult and challenging conditions (2m-2m50).

After coming very close for several years in a row, at the end of the day, Mathilde Coudeyrat won a 3rd title in Bodyboard Ondines Espoirs just before Louka Zaninotto came to conclude the day with a 2nd French champion title in a row in Bodyboard Minimes. As a reminder, the Para surf, Skimboard, Longboard, Bodysurf and Tandem surf categories were unfortunately canceled due to organizational constraints (the weather conditions being complicated). The Surfing French Federation continues to study the different possibilities for awarding the 2023 titles in these categories and pay attention that the next few days should reveal some more champions from other categories.

At the end of the afternoon, in the second last final, Mathilde Coudeyrat was a notch above and confirmed a well deserved victory. In solid conditions, the young French bodyboarder triumphed and became 2x Champion of France, leaving the Basque Country with a third coronation in her pocket and  one of the athletes to watch closely next year.

Girls Espoirs

01. Mathilde Coudeyrat (Nouvelle-Aquitaine)

02. Ambre Gautier (Pays de la Loire)

03. Manon Jarry (Pays de la Loire)

04. Rose Calvez (Guadeloupe)

Louka Zaninotto was one of the favorites for the entire comp, combo his opponents in the final heat and won the Bodyboard Minimes title, the 2nd of his young career. While high tide was in full swing and the setting sun lit up the Grande Plage, Louka did a series of rollos, quite easily ahead of the other competitors.

Boys Minimes

01. Louka Zaninotto (Nouvelle-Aquitaine)

02. Orion Christ (Bretagne)

03. Yohann Bachelard (Bretagne)

04. Mael Bleunven (Bretagne)

“It really wasn’t easy, it was tough conditions, especially for guys like us. I went to a left, I saw a good triangle bowl, I threw the rollo and it passed. Even if it’s my second French champion title, I’m still just as happy. To have put my title back on the line and to have won it again is great, a title of French champion is not every day, looking forward to coming back next year as a cadet”, said Louka in the end.
