The 10th edition of the Gran Canaria Frontón King is coming fast.

The spanish event is the last event of the 2022 season, so it promises many surprises and of course, the best bodyboarding in the World. On top of it the coronation of the Men and Pro Junior IBC world champions – the remaining two divisions to crown a champ. The contest runs from the 15th to 30rd of October in Gáldar, Gran Canaria.

Let’s see how the rankings are and who are the contenders!

Women

Final rankings after 6 events – top 4 events counted. 2022 champion is Isabela Sousa from Brazil.

Pro Junior Women

Final rankings after 5 events – best result plus Sintra Pro result counted. 2022 champion is Luna Hardman from Brazil.

Dropknee

Final rankings after 4 events. 2022 champion is Dave Hubbard from Hawaii.

Pro Junior Men

Below is the ranking of the best result only after 7 events. Fronton King points to be added.

18 young riders have a chance to claim the title with the final event offering the winner 2250 points, but these athletes are serious contenders as they lead the chart with 2000 points – Joel Rodrigues, Gabriel Molina, Jorge Hernández, Maycol Yancee and Paulo Galatti.

Men

Ranking after 7 events – top 4 events counted. Fronton King is the last event.

There are three riders in contention for the 2022 title, Tristan Roberts (10215 pts), Tanner McDaniel (9705 pts) and Alan Munoz (9115 pts), but the Chilean has the most demanding of scenarios. He needs to win Fronton King, with Tanner and Tristan not making the final.

For Tanner McDaniel the requirement is to make the final. If it is against Muñoz he doesn’t need to win and will be crown new world champ immediately. However, against Tristan, he will have to beat the current number one in the world.

Tristan Roberts has the easiest path of the three contenders. He will retain the World Title if Tanner or Alan exit the contest ahead of him. Pretty much like Tanner’s situation, the South African has to beat the Hawaiian should the two meet each other in the final.
