Zicatela (Oaxaca, Mexico) received the first edition of Cholo Invitational – the only bodyboarding event taking in place in Puerto Escondido.
The event happened during the first days of August and gathered a few legends of the sport, such as the locals boys Kalani Favela, Carlos Cruz and Hector Santiago, Brazilian Cezar Fernandez, Hawaiian Sammy Morretino and Travis Smith, Edwin Diaz from Panama, and Puerto Ricans Kuko Font, Abner de Arce, and Babby Quiñones, just to name a few.
Action was on fire, especially during the last day, with the waves getting a little bigger. Two Mexicans went to the final against two Puerto Ricans. In the end, Abner de Arce (photo above), from Puerto Rico, came on top by displaying an epic aerial arsenal.
Carlos Cruz, from Mexico, finished the event as runner up, Kuko Font, from Puerto Rico, placed third, and Jesus Aguirre, from Mexico, classified fourth.
In the Ladies division, Paola D’Valle, from Brazil, got the win, followed by Chia Cittadine (Argentina), Anais Mendoza (Puerto Rico), and Antonnela del Vecchio (Argentina).
On a parallel and final note, Kalani Favela (photo above), from Mexico, was awarded by the organization with the special trophy “Best Barrel of the Event”.
C-ya all next year!
