Evan McMillen passed away tragically on Sunday whilst riding waves back home in California. A huge loss for bodyboarding as Evan was only 21 years and had a bright and big future in the sport.

Evan was an amazingly caring, genuine, passionate kid that just start being sponsored by Hubboards. Always there to talk to someone if they needed him. He was always looking to grow as a waterman and more importantly as a man.

Words from California is their spirit and legacy will remain alive as friends will be organizing a paddle out and event pretty soon.

Former 2x World Champ Jared Houston, wrote the following on Instagram:

“Peace out my man! Woke up to some devastating news this morning. Multiple @houstonbodyboardingcamps attendee, @hubboards team rider and my friend – @evanmcmillennnn passed away tragically yesterday whilst riding waves back home in CA. Yet another reminder of how fragile life can be, and yet another “why” sensation as another life ends so suddenly and prematurely. Big Ev was one tough kid but a heart of gold and I consider myself truly privileged to have gotten to know him over our time together on camps. He ripped and I would have loved to see him have a crack at some events in the near future. He probably thought I had a lot to do with him getting sponsored by @hubboards but in reality, @jdhubb sniffed him out following his performance in Mexico and I just confirmed that he was a good guy and a solid rider – That was all you bro!! The last time I saw Evan, we paddled out together to check on some photographers who we thought might need some help, turns out they didn’t but I was impressed by Evan’s willingness to paddle out into some of the biggest surf he’d ever seen let alone been out in just to back me up and look out for two people he didn’t even know. You will be missed my Bru. I’d like to send my sincerest condolences to Evan’s family, friends and the entire California community. Rest in power my friend!”

Meanwhile a GoFundMe was created to raise/help money for his surviving family members.

Vert team would like to extend our most sincerest condolences to Evan’s family, friends and the entire California Bodyboarding community.

Rest in peace, Evan.
