The Royal Moroccan Surfing Federation and The International Bodyboarding Corporation have joined forces to deliver the 2024 Taghazout Bay World Bodyboard Championship Morocco Pro.

The event is the kick out contest of the 2024 IBC World Tour, which is composed of 10 different stops and events in the current season, and will be run in Taghazout Bay, Agadir, Morocco, from February 20th to March 2nd, 2024.

It will be the first world tour stop in Morocco and, hopefully, will gather some of the world’s best athletes. Local legends like Brahim Iddouch and Anas Haddar are already confirmed in the draw.

Taghazout Bay is rich in waves and surf spots, so although the event is announced to be held in Anchor Point (photo on top), be aware this may change due to the swell forecast. But there’s plenty of options in the area.

The full list of riders involved in the comp has not been unveiled so far. The exception were Merlin Bies, from France, and Jacob Romero (left and below), from Hawaii, who received wildcards to compete in the the Pro Junior Men and Pro Men’s Divisions, respectively.

Jacob Romero, 38 years old, born and raised in Maui, holds an iconic place amongst the world’s elite riders. It is his penchant for an unpredictable and explosive riding style that gives him such a unique personality amongst the top names in the sport.

“Let’s go! Can’t wait to compete and see everyone! @ibcworld_tour thank you!”, wrote the Hawaiian on social media.

One last word to mention that the event has a total prize money of USD 60,000 divided by three divisions (Pro Men U$30.000; Pro Women U$20.000; Pro Junior Men U$10.000).
