Iconic bodyboarding spots like Pipeline, Puerto Escondido, Teahupoo, The Box and a few other still not making the cut for the world tour in 2024. The International Bodyboarding Corporation (IBC) has just unveiled the preliminary calendar for next year which will be composed of 10 different stops and events.
Comparing to 2023, for next year the tour has lost three events: the Walker Bay (South Africa), La Salie Pro (France) and… get ready, the Arica Bodyboard Cultura (Chile), which has been, as we well know, one of the most fantastic stops of the tour for years.
To compensate for these losses, the tour has the return of Iquique (Chile), “After intense negotiations”, says the IBC; the possibility of the pro men’s division returning to the Sintra Pro (Portugal) and the debut at The Wave Pro in Praia da Grama. Brazil will host a competition in a wave pool for the History of our sport. Not the first time this happens, but according to those responsible, “The event is expected to bring a fresh and dynamic perspective to the competition, showcasing the versatility of the world’s top athletes.”
Let’s not forget the Peru’s possible novelty, in September, and Morocco’s event which will be in charge of the kick off the World Tour in February. The Morocco event was already a part of the IBC World Tour in 2023, but didn’t happened due to the earthquake in late September.
