On July 7, 1971, the birth of the Morey Boogie marked the beginning of modern bodyboarding, sparking a global movement and shaping a culture built on speed, style, and pure connection to the ocean.
Fifty-five years later, that legacy continues. To honor this milestone, Morey is introducing the 55th Anniversary MACH 7, a striking black-and-white edition of a timeless classic, released in a strictly limited run of just 555 boards. Each board is individually numbered, making every board part of the brand’s ongoing history.
Pierre-Louis Costes, two-time world champion and Morey team rider, reflects on what this milestone represents today:
“It’s an incredible achievement for a brand to reach such a milestone and still remain the greatest bodyboarding brand in the world. There is so much history when it comes to Morey Bodyboards, from sponsoring the best athletes since the beginning, creating iconic boards such as MACH 7-7, crowning world champions at Pipeline in the ‘80s… Bodyboarding is basically Morey Bodyboards’ age, which is beautiful. Tom’s legacy still continues to this day.
For me, it’s an honor to be representing such a prestigious brand and be able to work closely with such a talented team.
Happy birthday Morey Bodyboards, let’s make it to 100 years and more!”
Another legendary Morey rider, Jay Reale, shares his perspective on the brand’s impact across generations:
“Tom Morey and his legacy and brand have given me everything I have today. My life path, my family, my business… All thanks to Tom and Morey Bodyboards bringing me to a sport that completely changed my life.
I’m grateful to be able to continue carrying on Tom’s vision to help others enjoy the most accessible wave-riding sport there is.”

The 55th Anniversary MACH 7 is available on moreybodyboards.com starting May 1st.
