THE PIPELINE BOOG JAM WAS INSPIRED BY TOM MOREY.

The first ever Boog Jam inspired by Tom Morey took place in February in pumping Pipeline conditions (epic 4 to 10 foot waves) between 40 riders who competed on 4 split expression session heats kinda like.

Since then the APB for Progression of Bodyboarding and the person of Josh Kirkman, the organizers, were doing the video judging in order to elect the ultimate winner of the event. Five days ago a short list of the best 10 riders was unveiled to the public (Sammy Morretino, Spencer Skipper, Jeff Hubbard, Magno Passos, Jared Houston, Tanner McDaniel, Patrick Orr, Dave Hubbard, Guilherme Tâmega and Iain Campbell).

Finally, during the weekend the winner was announced: Tanner McDaniel! For the american the result was a rollercoaster of emotions as he first paddled out in a jersey at Pipe at 12 years old, ten years ago (he has 22) and he now joins an exclusive club of champions. It would take him 10 years to fulfill his dream of winning at Pipe. Congratulations!

The Boog Jam was a experiment with a different mechanics and competition format. We have two simple questions for you:

  • Do you think this could work in future events?
  • Are you able to wait two months until the winner is revealed?

This could be a sign of the strange times we’re living. Cheers! xxx
