Isabela Sousa is the 2022 IBC Women’s World Champion.
The Brazilian rider, who had won her last world title in 2016, was again awarded the champion’s scepter this Sunday, followed by the elimination of Neymara Carvalho in the semi-finals of the Walker Bay Pro – stop nr. 6 for the men’s and 5 for the women’s of the World Tour which ended today in Onrus Beach, South Africa.
Both Neymara and Isabela were in contention for the world title, after the elimination of direct competitors Sari Ohhara (Japan) and Alexandra Rinder (Canary Islands). In the final heat, Isabela beat local legend Pamela Bowren, who beat Neymara in the semis, by 15,00 versus 4,00 points, taking out the Walker Bay Pro title as well.
Congratulations, Isabela!
Regarding the Men’s division, it’s very true Jeff Hubbard was away from the circuit for a while, but the man didn’t lost any skills and came back on top, winning the south african event this morning in great fashion. The Hawaiian beat Iain Campbell, from South Africa and a local of the Cape Town region, in the final heat after scoring an amazing 9 point wave with a projected Air Roll Spin (final scores: 16,25 x 13,30 pts).
Well done, Jeff!
In the semis, Hubb eliminated Tristan Roberts, holder of the world title and one of the favorites to win, leaving the South African chasing a wave of 8,50 points; while in the semi number 2 Iain Campbell beat Chilean Alan Muñoz for the tiny difference of 1,85 points (16,25 x 14,40 pts).
