The news no one wants to share, but Tom Morey is dead. He was 86 years old (1935-2021).
Thomas Hugh Morey, known as Tom Morey, considered the father of bodyboarding and the one who made the world’s first boogie board, on July 7, 1971, did not survive to a brain surgery.
“A time to celebrate his life and not be sorry please. This is a moment of spreading the stoke of the ocean and love of music”, wrote his son, Sol Morey. According to Tom, “There is no death. Only form changing. Waves in the sea of Life. Nobody dies. A burning tree, is light and motion finally freed from decades, of ensnarement.”
Every bodyboarder in the world has lost a piece of themselves with the passing of Tom Morey. All of our lives changed when we were introduced to bodyboarding and then chasing the perfect wave, the deepest tube, the most inviting junction.
His legacy will live on forever, as we will not forget it. Huge gratitude and respect for everything Tom did and for having brought so much joy and good times to our lives.

Thomas Hugh Morey, conhecido por Tom Morey, considerado o pai do bodyboard e aquele que deu a conhecer a primeira boogie board ao mundo, a 7 de julho de 1971, não sobreviveu a uma cirurgia ao cérebro.
“Momento para comemorar a sua vida e não ficar triste, por favor. Este é o momento para espalhar o fogo pelo oceano e o amor pela música”, escreveu o seu filho, Sol Morey. De acordo com Tom, “Não há morte. Apenas mudança de forma. Ondas no mar da Vida. Ninguém morre. Uma árvore em chamas, é luz e movimento finalmente livre de décadas de enclausuramento.”
Todos os bodyboarders do mundo perderam um pedaço de si com o falecimento de Tom Morey. A vida de todos nós mudou quando fomos apresentados ao bodyboard e passámos a perseguir a onda perfeita, o tubo mais profundo, a junção mais convidativa.
O seu legado irá viver para sempre, pois nós não o iremos esquecer. Enorme gratidão e respeito por tudo o que Tom fez e por ter trazido tanta alegria e bons momentos à nossa vida.
