The young Portuguese lady, Filipa Broeiro, has 20 different titles on her sports curriculum, local, national and international speaking.
In December Filipa Broeiro conquered the first European Tour of Bodyboard of her career. Now, in a recent interview for CNN Portugal (look for video in the bottom), the 22 years old Portuguese bodyboarder says the logical next step is to compete on the IBC World Tour.
After being crowned Europe’s champion, Filipa wants to embrace the next challenge, the next step. And the next step is to participate on the world tour – 1 event in Morocco, 2 in Brazil, 2 in Chile, 1 in Maldives and 1 in Portugal. Oh yeah, she is ready to fight for the women’s world title!
According to her, the participation in these events will cost more or less 20.000 Euros, a considerable sum of money she isn’t able to gather amongst the surfing or bodyboarding industry – or even through official entities such as the Portuguese Surfing Federation.
Well, let’s be clear, she started competing 7 years ago and never received any financial support – except from her family who’s been supporting her career (and dreams) until now and since day one.
20.000 Euros is indeed a considerable sum of money, but it is in fact what Filipa needs in order to have a full participation on the 2024 women’s world tour of bodyboarding.
From personal experience, we know it will not be an easy task to gather this amount of money in the surfing industry, you see most of the brands are a real joke led by people with little interest in giving back; but the team wishes you success and the best of luck in the pursuit of your dream.
Go get them, girl!
