Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America, bordered by Honduras to the north, the Caribbean to the east, Costa Rica to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Managua is the country’s capital and largest city.

Nicaragua’s multiethnic population of six million includes people of mestizo, Indigenous, European and African heritage. The main language is Spanish. Indigenous tribes on the Mosquito Coast speak their own languages and English.

If you want to get barreled, Playa Colorado is the place to visit in Nicaragua. If it turns on, you will likely get one of the best barrels of your life.

Francisco Horta and I had already been planning a bodyboarding trip for some time. Initially the target was Indonesia, more specifically Watu Karung, Pacitan, on the island of Java.

However, thanks to an invitation from our friendly couple and bodyboarders Bruno and Mariana Dias, plans changed at the last minute. It turns out they opened not long ago the Colorado Surf and Stay… in Nicaragua!

So we decided to change everything and go there with the promise of offshore wind every day during the trip!

And the truth is that this promise was fulfilled! We were well received by our friends, they always took us to the right spots and we caught good waves every single day!

Undoubtedly, a place to explore and return to.
